Want a Drink During Inaugural Weekend? You’ll Have 213 Options

At the close of Friday’s deadline to serve alcohol until 4 a.m. — and possibly around the clock — 213 bars, restaurants and nightclubs had registered. The majority of the bars and restaurants are in Ward 2 (Georgetown, Dupont Circle & Gallery Place), 26 are in Ward 1 (Adams Morgan), and 35 are in Ward 6 (Capitol Hill).

The 800 block of 18th Street, NW, between I and Pennsylvania Avepowhatan-hotel800-18th-st-nw. Long since gone, the Powhatan (ca. 1921) once dominated the site, having nothing to obscure its views of the Mall, Capitol Hill, or Georgetown. The building currently on the site is in the midst of renovation, and only has views across the park, of the World Bank, or into the windows across the street.
