Kennedy at Washington Hospital Center

Posted in Senators on January 20, 2009 by Kent

I noticed tonight as I was out and about that Ted Kennedy is at the Washington Hospital Center. The number of news vans with satellite dishes tipped me off. Kennedy was taken to the hospital today after experiencing what’s been described as a seizure during the Inaugural luncheon at the Capitol today.kennedy2

If you are interested in the history of the Ball, you can find it here.  Below are images of the Balls I’ve been able to find. lincoln-inaugural-ball-1865

January 20, 1937: Franklin D. Roosevelt becomes the first President sworn into office in January. It was his second of four inaugurations. The Constitution had established March 4 as Inauguration Day to allow enough time after Election Day for officials to gather election returns and elected candidates to travel to the capital. The date was moved to January 20 by passage of the Twentieth Amendment in 1933.roosevelt-inauguration1
