1607 T Street, NW #C

1607-t-street

When I first approached this plain Jane of a building, I really expected a dive. I was told that the building was built in the 1980s, and it has NO street appeal. However, once inside, it was remarkable pleasant.

This condo has 1096 sq. ft., 2 bed rooms, and 2 1/2 baths. Selling for $624,000, it seemed very livable and reasonably priced. Its also in a great location.

I’m not going to say its perfect. There are some things that could be better. The natural wood floors had a few stains and the kitchen was dated, but usable. One thing that was nice, though, was the amount of natural light. Some of this was due to the southern exposure and the sky lights on the second level. More details>>

Just Another Saturday on Rock Creek Church Rd

Posted in Park View, Petworth, Wrecks, Collisions, & Accidents on January 26, 2009 by Kent

0191 I have no idea how a car even gets close to hitting this street light from the direction it was going.

There are many accidents on the stretch of Rock Creek Church Rd between 5th and Upshur in a year. This one was at the corner of RCCR & 5th. People drive WAY to fast on this stretch of road, and when you facter in the sharp curve in the middle, and that people try to beat the light, frankly, I’m somewhat surprised there aren’t more.

I have no idea what the answer is. Speed bumps wouldn’t be the answer, as its a main route for the bus and ambulances use it frequently to get to the Washington Hospital Center. At least this fool hit the traffic light … so if there is any damage the city will fix it. The last idiot hit the fence of the Soldier’s Home, and they haven’t lifted a finger to repair the damage.

Utility Work @ Upshur & Arkansas

Posted in 16th Street Heights on January 26, 2009 by Kent

001 Yesterday the intersection of Upshur and Arkansas was partially closed down for utility work — which I thought was odd for a Sunday. There was a Washington Gas truck there, but no news on their Web site. There also wasn’t any mention of it on the AlertDC Web site. Anyone know what was going on?
