Chevy Chase at a Glance

The Washington Post featured the Chevy Chase neighborhood in the October 25, 2008 article Little League Is a Hit in Upper Northwest. The Post summarized the neighborhood in the following manner:

BOUNDARIES: In Northwest Washington, roughly Western Avenue to the north, Wisconsin Avenue to the west, Nebraska Avenue to the south and Utah Avenue to the east.

SCHOOLS: Lafayette Elementary, Alice Deal Junior High and Woodrow Wilson Senior High schools

HOME SALES: According to Bonnie Gregorio of Re/Max Allegiance, 120 homes were sold since January 2008 in the Chevy Chase part of Washington, starting from $192,000 (efficiencies) to $2.7 million, with $929,201 being the average. There are currently 57 houses listed for sale, priced from $230,000 (efficiencies) to $2.999 million, with 22 under contract.

WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE: Stores along upper Wisconsin and Connecticut avenues, Friendship Heights, Chevy Chase Village, Chevy Chase Country Club, Avalon Theatre, Broad Branch Market

WITHIN 10 MINUTES BY CAR: Rock Creek Park, American University, University of the District of Columbia, Tenleytown-AU and Friendship Heights Metro stops, Carter Barron Amphitheatre, National Zoo

  1. It’s my hometown. One of the best places in the world to grow up and raise a family. It was the original streetcar suburb. Quite an interesting history and the houses have tons of character (for the most part)
