March 9, 1927: Announcing that American University had passed well beyond the $1,000,000 mark in its campaign for $6,000,000, Chancellor Lucius C. Clark disclosed to the Women’s guild at a banquet in the women’s residence hall, that principal donor to the institution was the late Miss Mary Graydon, of Ridgewood, N.J., whose gifts were expected to exceed $861,000. Dr. Clark stated other pledges received by the University during the last year totaled $450,000.american-univesity
