Lost Washington: 627 Pennsylvania Ave., NW

627-pennsylvania-ave-nwAlthough the pair of Renaissance Revival buildings at 625-7 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, still stand, the city lost one if its most important commercial interiors when the 627 Pennsylvania Ave. was remodeled in 1967.

Fortunately, being the most important historical interior in the city at that time, it was extensively documented. The building was erected sometime in the mid-1850s.
