Then and Now

apex-buildingThen: This building has been around a long time, and this won’t be the first time I post something about it. In this picture we see Apex Liquor Store conducting business here in July, 1959. Incidentally, it is situated just west of the building featured in today’s Lost Washington (Courtesy Historical Society of Washington, Emil. A Press Slide Collection, Apex Building, Liquor Store on the northeast corner of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, #PR 0024A)

7th and Pennsylvania Ave todayNow: The same building today. The liquor store is gone, and the parking area between it and 627 Pennsylvania is now filled with a newer building. As an aside, I’ve never liked this building pink.
