Metro Accident Details

According to the Washington Post, the man who was struck and killed by the Blue Line train Friday afternoon at the McPherson Square Metro station was a 42-year-old Metrobus driver who was on administrative leave because he had been involved in a bus accident the week before. Sadly, this appears to be a suicide. As infuriating as it can be when someone decides to take their own life and inconvenience hundreds of others by choosing a Metro station, as in this case, or the Wilson Bridge, as has happened in the past, I think we need to keep in mind that those choosing to end their own lives are troubled and are not thinking rationally. No matter how you look at it, only a truly calloused person would fail to see the tragedy of the situation.
