March 15, 1921: More than 3,000 people viewed the display of amaryllis at the formal opening of the show at the green houses of the Department of Agriculture. The blooms numbered from three to seven blossoms on each stalk. The previous record had been not more than five blossoms per stalk.amaryllis-show
