1453 Monroe St., NW

1453 Monroe StreetWhile I wouldn’t say that $589,000 is a great bargain, it certainly isn’t outrageous for this house. It has some really nice details and a lot of original charm. I was happy to see that it still had radiant heat, too.

It does need some updating in the kitchen and baths, but they are nice enough to live with for a while, which makes it a consideration if you don’t have the resources to tackle them right away.

Its nice that it has a bathroom on the main level, but its off the dining room – a very common thing to do (something I hate, but there really wasn’t anywhere else to put it). The worst feature is that the back yard is land locked, so anything going back there would have to come through the house. Its best feature is how close it is to the new Target without being too close for noise.
