Wasabi for Lunch

Wasabi beltI had lunch at Wasabi on 17th street yesterday, and loved it. Every time I go, its like stepping into another city as you just don’t expect something like this in DC. The concept is simple, you take sushi, put it on a colored plate that indicates a price, and throw that on a conveyor belt to let the eater see the selection and take what they want.

Its very popular, and if you don’t plan your visit just right, you may have to wait a while to get seated.

One thing I liked about this time is that they’ve started to run some specials that take the math out of the experience. Chocolate MousseYou can now choose 5 plates and a drink for $15. Never mind the color … or for $20, you can have 6 plates and an alcoholic beverage. Either can be a good deal.

I highly recommend this place if you like sushi and haven’t been here yet. You can get a better feel for it by checking out the Wasabi website. wasabi1
