Sherman Ave Streetscape Construction Slated for 2010

I was excited to read on councilmember Graham’s website that he was able to include the Sherman Avenue streetscape project in the District’s request for federal stimulus spending. This project aims to dramatically improve Sherman Avenue between New Hampshire Avenue and Florida Avenue.
This project will provide much needed improvements, including:
  • Pedestrian and traffic safety improvements
  • Improved sidewalks
  • Dozens of additional street trees
  • Enhanced street lighting

  1. Jim Graham definitely gets things done. However, was this included in the request, and approved, or just requested?

  2. I was able to speak with Jim Graham tonight at my UNC meeting, and he tells me that the project was included in the request that went forward, which is as much as the City has power to do. He was fairly confident that the project would get funded, however.
