D.C. Council Approves Recognition of Gay Marriages

I thought this was significant. Today, the D.C. Council approved an amendment that would recognize gay marriages performed outside of the District of Columbia.

The amendment was attached to the Disclosure to the United State District Court Amendment Act of 2009. The bill must pass a second vote on May 5 before it would be sent to Mayor Adrian Fenty, who would also have to sign it. The bill would also have to pass congressional review.
