April 18, 1881: Barnum’s circus arrived. At 9 o’clock in the morning the street pageant started from the show grounds at 9th and S streets, and proceeded down 9th to K, up K to 22nd street, then to Pennsylvania avenue, to 3rd, to F, to 4th, to G, to 7th, to S to the circus lot.barnums-mammoth-tent
