April 22, 1899: The fifth lecture in the course of the natural and social development of the District of Columbia, under the auspices of the Washington Academy of Sciences, was delivered at Columbian University (Columbian University changed its name to The George Washington University in 1904).1910_columbian_university_law_school_and_university_building

    Go GW – Hail to the Buff & Blue! The University Building, which housed Columbian/GW before its move to Foggy Bottom in 1912, was a state of the art building for the time – the University had looked at facilities at many other colleges such as Princeton and Harvard when designing the building. Sadly it was torn down shortly after the University moved out . It was replaced with the current occupant of the site, the Woodward Building.
