Loeb’s Turns 50

loebs-map1The Post had a nice article in the paper yesterday featuring Loeb’s NY Deli and its 50th anniversary next week. Honestly, I didn’t realize that Loeb’s has been around that long.

I’ve only been there a scant handful of times, as its just a bit far for me to go at lunch, but it does have a vibe that is unique to Loeb’s. I thought it was interesting that the deli was originally in the location Old Ebbitt Grill is in now, and had to move to its currently location in 1978 when they were evicted.

Considering that food establishements tend to come and go more quickly than administrations in this town, I find it quite an accomplishment that Loeb’s has been able to remain successful all these years.
