Power Outage in Park View, Pleasant Plains

This morning, around 7:10 a.m., Park View experienced a power outage. In looking at the AlertDC announcements, I found the following, which appears to be the cause.

“Mpd reports manhole explosion 2800 block Georgia Ave,@ Harvard Street, NW. south bound Georgia Ave is closed. MPD Diverting traffic Westbound on Columbia Road. NW. PEPCO advised the manhole explosion is in the 700 block of Harvard street, NW. Customers affected 1609. Crews are enroute. FEMS / MPD units on site. DDOT notified.”

Based on this announcement, and the location of the manhole, parts of Pleasant Plains and Columbia Heights probably also experienced power outages.

  1. I’ve just receive a phone call letting me know that power has been restored, at least at the north end of Park View.
