reDISTRICTing: Artists John Sawyer and Victor Rortvedt Merge Old and New

(Georgia and New Hampshire Avenues NW – 1991 Plus 18 Years)

For obvious reasons, I was drawn to the work of artists John Sawyer and Victor Rortvedt, now on display at Artomatic. Much like my Then and Now series, they take it one step further, and with much more skill, creating photo overlays that merge the District of today with that of the past. You can see more of their work at the reDISTRICTing Website.

In this example, Engine Company No. 24, which I’ve posted about before, is overlaid with the new Park Place Apartments.

  1. I think this one is by far the best of their gallery:

I’m working on a somewhat similar project called Looking Into the Past ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonepowell/sets/72157613841045343/detail/ ) which you’d probably like as well.

  2. You’re right. I do like it! Thanks for sharing.
