2009 Pride Parade RouteIt looks like a busy weekend for events. Whether you are out and about on Saturday or Sunday, from Georgetown, to Dupont Circle, to Pennsylvania Avenue, all signs point to people, people, people … and associated road closures.

I am happy that the Pride parade is going through the neighborhood this year. Now, we just need to get the event itself off of Pennsylvania Avenue and back to its roots. To find out more about the weekend’s events, go to the Capital Pride Web site.

For those interested in the scheduled road closures, the DDOT announcement is as follows:

National Marathon Race Course Posted

Posted in Marathons & Races on March 18, 2009 by Kent

National MarathonTake Notice! The Race Course for the National Marathon that will be held on March 21st (this coming Saturday) has been marked. I noticed this sign on Michigan Ave. by Children’s Hospital, which is one of several that mark the course.

For information on the Marathon, you can go to the Website which gives all the details, including the race map I’ve posted below (you can also click on the map for a larger version).

I actually ran this race in its inaugural year, and I see they’ve changed a number of things, including the direction on North Capitol so that you are running down hill rather than up near the end of the race. Nice to see that some lessons were learned.national-marathon-map
