17th Street becomes a one way south street during the morning rush, and these neon signs are to remind drivers at intersections of that fact. This one has malfunctioned, and the arrow stays on. The signs are to flash between the arrow and the words “one way.” This sign is located between the Mayflower Hotel and the National Geographic Building.

This neon fish is in the window of McCormick & Schmick’s on K Street, near the intersection of 17th Street, NW.
Here’s a remnant from the past that I’m glad is still around. While the entire sign is lit all the time, I suspect that this was once much more animated, with the hands and hammers alternating giving the impression of actually hammering on a shoe’s sole.
The demise of this sign is sad. While its hard to read, the small letters read “Ride with Safety, Yellow Cab.” If someone wanted to bring it back, it is not so far gone that that couldn’t happen. It is on the Yellow Cab building on Bladensburg Road, somewhere near the intersection of R or Rand Streets, NE. I’ll bet it was something back when all the neon was intact and lit up.
The only neon still working is above the front door, which I’ve included below.
If I recall, this neon parking sign was located on 19th Street, between L and M Streets.
I liked how blue was used for both the steam and the chopsticks. 
This sign is at the cleaners on the southwest corner of Pennsylvania Ave. and 10th Street, SE.
Heres a neon sign on a restaurant on 14th Street in northern Columbia Heights. I admit I haven’t had the chance to eat there yet, but it looked like something I might want to go back and check it out.
